Albert Munro Dykes was born in 1936 at Crossford Farm near Moniaive. In 1967 the business, Dykes of Wallaceton, was started and began by providing machinery to the agricultural sector
In 1997 Dykes of Wallaceton became a partnership between Trevor Dykes and Fraser Dykes under the name of AMD Contract Services.
Initially AMD/Dykes of Wallaceton was operating solely within the agricultural sector, but has continually diversified and expanded, first moving into Forestry in the late 1990's in response to local demand, and then more recently into the Construction Industry.
AMD is a family oriented company. The Directors Fraser and Trevor Dykes manage the operations and can operate the machinery themselves and therefore understand what is required of their work force.
AMD is committed to developing customers for life with clients that share their values. It will achieve this by exceeding expectations and working to the industry's highest standards of cost effectiveness, professional integrity and providing quality performance.
The team manages a staff of 35 - 40. All staff are trained and have the necessary certification required for each machine they operate. Staff training is regularly reviewed and AMD Contract Services Ltd have signed up to the CITB Training Development Plan. Health and Safety forms an integral part of training and is an ongoing priority in the company. Protection of the environment is also of prime importance amongst managers and operators.
